Graduation!!!

ANNUAL VIOLIN GRADUATION CONCERT
THURSDAY JANUARY 29, 2009 AT 7PM
COTTONWOOD HIGH SCHOOL

For those of you that attended Graduation 2008, you can agree that we had great attendance at the beginning of the evening, but by the end, the audience still remaining was probably 1/8 of what it began with.  Families & students that plan to participate should commit to the entire concert, not just what their own child participates in.  The advanced students are wonderful role models to the younger students.  The entire concert is through by 8:10, it is not a very long concert. Please stay all the way to the end!

The students that participate in this concert need to be prepared to play their piece memorized with the entire group of students in their level.  You must be fully prepared in order to perform in graduation! Proper concert etiquette includes no talking during performances or in between numbers. Make sure your cell phones are turned off. If you have a crying baby, you should immediately remove them to the hall.  When the event gets closer, I will email specific instructions you and your students need to follow the night of the event.  We are keeping the list of graduation pieces the same as last year, including the Mozart D Major.  Here's a list of the pieces in the order they will be performed:

Twinkle variations A, B, C, D, E, & Theme
Bk. 1 Gavotte by Gossec
Bk. 2 Minuet by Boccherini
Bk. 3 Bouree by Bach (*we will follow the new written Book 3 edition!)
Bk. 4 Vivaldi Concerto in a mvt. 1
Bk. 5 Vivaldi Concerto in g mvt. 1
Bk. 6 La Folia by Corelli
Bk. 7 Bach Concerto in a mvt. 1
Bk. 8 Veracini Sonata mvt. 2
Bk. 9 any graduates will be asked to come on stage to be recognized for their accomplishment, but the Mozart A major will not be performed.
Bk. 10 Mozart Concerto in D mvt. 1-no cadenza

Only students who are paying members of SAU may participate. Your annual membership cost funds this event. Please make sure your memberships are current. I strongly encourage you to participate if you can - it's a great performance experience for your child!

If your child is not graduating, it would still be a good listening experience for you to bring them to the concert! Please come!
